SHOUT OUTS
Id like to officially thank our current sponsors, specifically the Moms on either side who came through bigtime with loans to keep us going. Thank you both so much!
Thanks also to Britt for paying for the whitening of Genvieve's crazy-tooth, and to Gui for dropping some coin in the travel fund on the sly.
If anyone else is interested in becoming a part of the G and E Excellent Adventure financial support "family", let us know- it really is a prestigious organization to be a part of.
Anyway the initial India-shock is wearing off and we're beginning to enjoy ourselves. I had my first obligitory bout of Mystery India Sickness yesterday but I made it out OK. It was a strange 12 hours of soaring fever, digestive failure, chills, cramps, laughing and crying (at the same time at some points), and mystical visions of elephants. Anyway our driver gave me some strong Indian medications and I've been drinking electrolyte water all day, feeling fine.
We're in the holy city of Pushkar, which is the first place we've acctually been able to enjoy and relax in. Yes, there are still hawkers, beggars and scammers all over and that pervasive shit smell, but here it all takes on a fuzzy glow. My favorite part of India so far is the cows-- they're just chilling. Like, if a cow wants to walk up some stairs, or stand in the street, it's all good. No, actually more than that it's the combinations of animals just chilling, combos you don't see, like monkey-pigeon-cow all hanging out, or pig-dog-goat laying around together when it gets hot.
The humans here so far are a harder nut to crack- at least for us as outsiders. Preying on tourists doesn't seem cool, nor does just straight up staring at people. If Genevieve was a rapper and she released an album about our time in Delhi and Jaipur it would be "Tupac-All Eyez on Me". When we walked around all these dudes were just blatanly checking her out with expressions variously lustful, romantic, or strangly angry and twisted. And she was not scantilly clad or displaying herself, I thnk they just feel it's their right. I know these are all cultural things that we'll begin to understand more as we go along, but it's a little odd.
Anyway beside that it's all good. Since I've been here a couple times I've been like (to myself) "Where the eff AM I?! The middle of the desert?! I want to go surfing!", but as G would say "We have not yet figured out why we are here" and I'm sure that will happen. Bring on the shit smell!

hey lisa,
actually we don't have a digital camera--that's probably why the shots are so beautiful. we have two point-and-shoots, mine's an old cannon sure-shot, and emerson's is something else--i'm not sure. i'm a photo nerd, so this is probably way more info than you need... we use kodak 200 speed film, it's a little slower, so we get brighter colors and higher resolution, but it's definately not professional grade, and we have the photos digitally printed and copied onto a disk, (not scanned), so that we can post them. thanks for the compliment.
